The Extreme Makeover/Testimony of Rob Vollmar

     My name is Rob Vollmar.  I live in New Port Richey, Florida, near Tampa.  I have worked for 21 years as a Mobile Disc Jockey.  I am here to share my experience of the transforming power of Jesus Christ can have in your life-if you trust him.

     My father died in a plane crash when I was 8 years old.  We never attended church and be the age of 17, I was smoking marijuana daily.  I never believed in God, I always thought, if you can't show me God, he must not exist.  I lived this way for about 10 years before I started using Cocaine.  My life rapidly went downhill, and after 3 months I was fully addicted.  I always thought i was in control of my life until then.

     God started revealing himself to me in different ways over the next 2 years.  I resisted the fact that I couldn't help myself, finally, February of 1998, I accepted Jesus in my life.  It happened at my friend John's dining room table, who had been witnessing to me.

     After a fresh start, 2 months later, I started thinking I could serve God and use drugs.  But I soon learned, you cannot serve both God and Satan.  (Luke 16:13)

     I struggled for almost 8 years living this way, with only brief periods of sobriety under my own strength.  I thought that I needed to show God I could do this myself, the Holy Spirit continued to convict me until finally, on November 19, 2005, I could take no more.  I was driving home late one night crying my eyes out, asking God to help me.  But I had drugs in the glove box in my car and suddenly, God put a Bible verse into my head, "If you cherish sin in your heart, God will not hear your prayer" (Psalm 66:18).  I pulled over to a bridge on the road I was traveling and threw my drugs out the window.  I begged God to take control, telling Him He must do this for me, because I cannot do it for myself.  I know in my heart that this is what God wanted from me, total surrender, with no help from me.  By the grace of God I have not only been free of drugs since then, but have never once had a temptation to use drugs!

    This is a true miracle that only God can produce.  My testimony is this-repent, give God full control, and get out of his way.
